Our Family Day Weekend

So I haven't written for quite some time....really didn't have anything interesting to write about. We went away to a cottage for our Family Day Weekend on the Thanksgiving Weekend. It was a lot of fun, but I didn't want to write about it until I had some pictures to post....and now I do.
Rear View of HouseWhen both Barry and Karla come to visit we try to get the whole family together, sometimes by renting a cottage for the weekend. It's been two years since my whole immediate family was together, and this year it worked out again. We rented a cottage near Detroit so Jacky, my sister in the States, and her family wouldn't have as far to drive.

It was a beautiful cottage.
There were four bedrooms, but two of them were like suites. Gorgeous!
There were 14 of us there that weekend. My parents, Bert, Porita & I, Jacky, Noah & Syd, Karla & Barry, my aunt Ruth, Luke (Karla & Barry's friend), Tony (Jacky & Noah's friend) and Cassandra (our friend/adopted daughter). It was a lot of people, but a lot of fun too!
It was a great opportunity to take family photos....and we took alot. I have 845 pictures from this weekend (a combination of mine, Karla's, Jacky's and my dad's.) I wanted to share a few of my favourites.
First of all, our whole family. We havent done a good shot like this since Karla's wedding 5 years ago! I think it turned out really good!

We also got some good shots of mom & dad, us three girls, the grandchildren, a whole group shot! Like I said .... 845 pictures.

We also did our traditional gift exchange...which the girls had a lot of fun with. It was, afterall, mostly about them!

There was even some swimming in the lake.....very cold swimming. Bert, Noah & Barry braved the cold Lake Erie water for a dip on Sunday. Portia was even brave enough to jump in.....well, more like gingerly wade in!
It was a wonderful & relaxing weekend. There are still many more pictures and memories to share, which I'll do in a future blog...some through scrapbook layouts. I'm all set for pictures for our scrapbooking retreat now...can't wait to get started!

Until tomorrow,
Catee
